At Lighthouse, we want to make it easy to see what we value as a church and with whom we are affiliated. This page outlines our values and allows those new to our church to know what we believe.
We are Missionaries
We believe that no church has an accidental address. As a result, we value promoting missions in our community, region, state, nation, and the rest of the world. We do not hold to the idea that a select few should only do missions in a different land. You will hear us say, “We are missionaries,” as a reminder that every member of the church family is responsible for sharing the good news of the gospel.
We define our community according to the Acts 1:8 model (Jerusalem, Judea, Samaria, and the end of the earth).
- Our neighbors in Jackson County, NC (Jerusalem)
- Western North Carolina (Judea)
- North Carolina and surrounding regions (Samaria)
- The world (end of the earth)
We are Theologians – What we value
Bible – We believe the Bible to be an all-sufficient, inspired Word of God. Therefore, the Bible will always take precedence over church traditions, trends, and human wisdom or desires. As a result, we will spend significant time studying what the Bible says and how we should apply it to our lives every day.
Spiritual Growth – Through community, teaching, and practical application, we aim to help Christians learn and grow in their daily walk with God. We embrace the Ephesians 4 mentality that every believer is in the process of “putting off” sin and “putting on” righteousness.
Service – God expects every believer to serve others in the local body with the spiritual gifts and talents He has given them. This idea of service includes many areas. Examples would be worship, accountability, teaching, or service in caring for the building and grounds.
We are family:
Spiritual Growth – A part of spiritual growth is the benefit of a church family. Because we believe in an Ephesians 4 type of spiritual growth, we also expect people to fall and fail. However, we also expect to love and help each other. Romans 12 explains that we are part of a body and need each other on this life journey.
