Salvation

First of all, there is but one question…Do you know Christ as your Savior? Some people use the word salvation. Not to mention, while many want to make it complicated, understanding salvation is very easy.
If you don’t know Christ as Savior, please know that it is as easy as A, B, and C.

A. Admit that you are a sinner.

Have you sinned? Before you answer, you need to know that “sin” is the direct or indirect disobedience of God.

The Bible says:
“For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;” (Romans 3:23)
“Wherefore, as by one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin; and so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned:” (Romans 5:12)

So again, we ask, “Have you sinned?”

If you answered “yes,” you have completed the first step. You will notice that it has nothing to do with being a “good person.” We have ALL sinned.

However, to leave someone with an understanding that they have disobeyed God without providing a way back to Him would make us all miserable. Fortunately, Jesus came to earth to provide that way. In His own words, He said, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.”

B. Believe in Jesus Christ for Salvation.

Not only did Jesus come to earth, but part of the process of providing that way was that He lived and died for you and me. Do you believe that Jesus Christ died for you?

Again, the Bible says:
“For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believes in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.” (John 3:16)
“But God commended his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners. Christ died for us.” (Romans 5:8)
“That if you confess with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.” (Romans 10:9)

The most simple and clear point is believing that Jesus Christ died for you.

C. Confess, through prayer, and believe in Jesus Christ.

Therefore, if A and B are true for you, the next step is to confess (or point C).

Again, the Bible says, “For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.” (Romans 10:13)

“For with the heart, man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth, confession is made unto salvation.” (Romans 10:10)

Please understand that this prayer does not save you. Believing in Jesus Christ saves. So, I would ask that you read and pray this prayer to help articulate what happens when we believe:

“Lord Jesus… I know that I am a sinner…and I am sorry for my sins. Right now, I ask You to forgive me…and I believe in You. I want You to be my Savior…and my Lord, …which means You are first in my life. I want to repent and turn away…from everything that You call sin, and I commit myself to obey You… every day for the rest of my life. Thank You for saving me. In Jesus’ name, I pray, Amen.”
